Mobile operator MTS Belarus, a joint venture between Russian giant Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) and the Belarusian government, has launched a fixed internet service in the capital Minsk, using ADSL technology. The cellular provider's web site says it is offering two tariffs for residential users: an 'ASDL1' pack (up to 1 Mbps downlink) costs BYR59.400 (USD$7.17) per month, with the faster 'ADSL 2' (2Mbps) service costing BYR88.000.
