Power usage effectiveness: Supported by the Green Grid, an association of information technology professionals dedicated to energy efficiency, PUE is the first metric auditors typically mention when describing a data center's efficiency. It is defined as a center's total power use (not the whole building's power use) divided by IT equipment power use.
