World Bulk Trades 2003 Summary

The graphs below show the volumes of imports and exports for oil and dry bulk commodities shipped by vessels over 50,000 dwt in 2003 measured in dwt utilized. The graphs below show total exports and imports by size groups for different areas. In our shipment analyses for shipments by oil tankers over 50,000 dwt we have chosen to show figures in dwt utilized instead of calculated tonne figures. For oil shipments, VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers) and VLOCs (Very Large Ore Oilers) over 200,000 dwt in 2003 (2002 figures in brackets) accounted for 771.9 mdwt (680.9) from Middle East Gulf/Red Sea, 111.6 mdwt (88.1) from West Africa, 32.6 mdwt (27.4) from North Africa, and 23.2 mdwt (29.5) from North Sea (out of area).
