But these aren't top-down management edicts. These are procedures developed by the employees and codified for efficiency and repeatability. And don't get the idea that the rules are chiseled in stone. New and better ways do occur and become new SOPs. Sean Benetin says his foreman is fond of describing the development of procedures as LBI Industries, which stands for Laziness Breeds Ingenuity. Every new procedure is meant to cut down on the labor needed to get the job done.
