Energy efficiency measures pay off

One of the biggest challenges facing the finishing operation at Decoboard Inc. in San Bernardino, Calif., is the high cost of power. "It costs $700 per day in electricity to run the lines," says Matt Munden, general manager. Responding to that cost, the company has initiated aggressive energy saving measures working closely with Southern California Edison, the area utility. Edison charges three levels of rates based on off peak, on peak, and maximum peak times. Currently, Decoboard starts its operation early in the morning to take advantage of lower rates.
