Two Polish women whose husbands died in the sinking of the bulk carrier Leros Strength in 1997 have taken their case to the IMO. Urszula Miegon and Regina Szymanska flew to London to meet IMO secretary general Bill O'Neil on November 1. They handed him an open letter applauding IMO involvement with seafarers' liability and compensation, and described their unsuccessful fight to win redress.
