IT was, as usual, a game of the utmost brinkmanship as the P&l renewals deadline approached at noon on February 20. "It was right down to the wire," one owner told Fairplay. "We were still negotiating in the last 20 minutes." But in this fiercely competitive environment, straightforward haggling on rates and claims records has given way to a more sophisticated two-way appraisal of risk by both clubs and their members.
