One salvor has already died in the effort to save the Cougar Ace and its cargo of 4,813 vehicles - mostly Mazdas - bound for Canada and the US. With the initial survey reporting that the majority of the vehicles are intact, numerous Coast Guard and commercial vessels have gathered in the waters off the Aleutian islands to try and save the heavily listing ship.
