Three months is short time to be a shipowner, but Wayne Elliott says he enjoyed being able to call Maritime Trader his vessel even for that brief period. Elliott - owner of International Marine Salvage of Port Colborne, Ontario, the only Canadian ship-breaker on the Great Lakes - saved the bulk carrier from a grim future by updating it and returning the vessel to operations. The ship had been called Mantadoc when launched 39 years ago.
