Beluga explores offshore market

German project carrier Beluga Group is teaming up with construction group Hochtief for the launch of an offshore services company. Beluga Hochtief Offshore (BHO), the constitution of which is imminent following a contract signing between both parties, will focus on the fledgling offshore wind energy market in the North Sea.rnDetails of the co-operation, which insiders say has been under preparation for more than a year, have already leaked into the public. An official announcement is expected only after Hochtief's annual general meeting in mid-May.rnFairplay has learned that the joint venture intends to contract four 8,000dwt jack-up heavy-lift vessels with a combined lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes in the second half of this year. The broad specifications of the ships -priced at up to €200M ifrncontracted at a German yard -were confirmed by a spokesman for Beluga.
