BBC Chartering, the multi-purpose operating outfit of German shipowner Briese, is diversifying in a bid to vacuum up more cargo. The company aims to raise its profile in the Handy and mini-bulk sector with the addition of two 37,300dwt bulk carriers over the coming months.rnThe company, well-known for its broad coverage of bulk, project and heavy lift segments, has been serving bulk customers with its fleet of 130 multipurpose vessels. However, the commissioning of dedicated Handysize dry bulk ships is a first for the group which has also set up a new bulk chartering desk at its headquarters. "It has always been beneficial to cover multiple sectors," Svend Andersen, CEO of BBC Chartering, told Fairplay.
