The Bourbon group has spotted the development opportunity offered by the use of semi-submersible wind turbines. Already a leading operator in offshore oil and gas, it took its first steps in wind energy in the summer of 2010. In June 2010 it began working on the Greater Gabbard Wind Farm off the southeast coast of England, before moving on to me Bard Offsnore 1 field off the German coast, where it was working until October this year. For these latter operations, it used a specialised inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) vessel, Bourbon Enterprise, rather than an anchor handler.
