Most politicians struggle with shipping. There are few voters out at sea and almost all maritime activity takes place away from TV screens. It's a familiar groan that there's not much sympathy for those who go down to the sea in ships. Except in The Netherlands. The Europort exhibition is an opportunity for the Dutch to show how committed they are to the full range of maritime industries. Although, at first glance, the exhibitors are focused on the technical aspects of shipping, the Dutch have a refreshing way of making the diverse and seemingly unconnected threads of the industry run together.
