Outlook: Good results from Maersk have buoyed the markets but there are still soft rates for Panamaxes. The ConTex softened by one point to 376, dragged down by softening rates for larger vessels. Most active enquiry was for 1,700teu class vessels, which saw rates for two-year charters rise by $30 to $7,589/day. 'Bangkok-max' and newer eco designs are most in demand. The 1,100teu class saw rates up 0.25% to $6,300/day. Softening was seen in the 3,500teu sizes, with ConTex levels reporting about $9,255/day.
