Global trade's share of GDP has remained static since 2011 and may have already left behind its growth trend, which would be bad news for shipping in the long term, said Peter Sand, chief shipping analyst at BIMCO in Denmark. He cited the latest Global Economic Outlook of the OECD, which disclosed evidence that world trade, as a percentage of global GDP, is no longer following the same progressive trend of the past.
