MSC has been running its joint operation with Maersk since early January but, according to MSC Belgium's CEO Marc Beerlandt, it was too early to assess how the partnership was developing. "We're adapting ourselves to Maersk and I'm sure Maersk is also adapting itself to us. It's early days to give a good view but ..we are very confident that the 2M alliance is going to be a winner," he predicted. Yet Beerlandt was happy to tell how the world's top two container carriers are benefiting from the partnership. "In view of current freight pricing, it makes sense to work on our cost structure and you can only do that by teaming up," he said.
