LNG-fuelled tanker offers green edge

Setting a new benchmark for shortsea tanker efficiency and green standards, the 15,000 dwt Ternsund was due to be handed over this month. It is the lead ship in a series of four ordered by Temtank Rederi, based in Skagen, Denmark, from China's AVIC Dingheng Shipbuilding. The ships, fuelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG), have partial EU funding. The oil and chemical products carrier was designed for trade within emissions control areas that limit sulphur and will also meet International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier Ⅲ limits on NO_X emissions without the need for after-treatment plants.
