A few years ago, Lars Kristoffersen, president and CEO of Norway's Torvald Klaveness shipping group, was driving home from a conference at which technology, and its impact on the maritime sector, had been the topic. He recalls how his mood sank when he thought that none of what he had heard would have anything to do with shipping. Then, the more he thought about it while driving,, the more this view changed: all of what had been said would not only touch shipping, Kristoffersen realised, but he could also understand how technology would hugely change the maritime sector.
