摘要

Whether virtualisation is a fad or reality is a valid question. Nevertheless, its impact on "costly" physical environments has long been discussed in academic and practitioner circles. Whether a fad or otherwise, the built environment is, nevertheless, affected by organisational change such as that brought about by increased virtualisation. More frequently, most built environments are affected by policy change, strategy change and a change in service provision, some of which we have directly witnessed in the higher education and healthcare sectors in the UK, for example. Change being inevitable, evidence supports the fact that facilities that support organisations need to be proactively aware of this change and plan and operate accordingly. Facilities Change Management is a book long overdue, and addresses the challenges faced by facilities professionals in making the built environment fit for its current and future users.
