Amcom to add DSLAMs to 20 more exchanges

Amcom Telecommunications has announced plans to rollout DSLAMs In a further 20 exchanges In Perth and Adelaide taking Its DSL exchanges to a total of 35, backhauled via its own fibre network. It said the decision had been taken due to strong take-up of its DSL broadband services. However it indicated back in December that it would have 39 exchanges DSLAM-enabled by the end of 2004. CEOEddy Lee told a Corpfile Open Briefing at that time that "We've commenced a DSL roll-out of 39 exchanges in Perth and Adelaide. We currently have 10 exchanges enabled and expect to complete 15 by the New Year, with the remaining 24 exchanges to be commissioned by the end of the third quarter of calendar 2005."
