Brocade unveils first products built on new data centre architecture

Brocade has unveiled the first switching products built around its Ethernet Fabric technology designed to meet the demands of virtualised data centre networks, where traditional ethernet networking architectures are struggling to cope. The company has released the VDX 6720 family of 10 gigabit ethernet data centre switches, claiming that they "revolutionise layer 2 ethernet networking to create the first true ethernet fabrics... eliminating] the need for spanning tree protocol, collapsing the access and aggregation networking layers to create a flat, multipath, deterministic network that is ideal for virtualised environments."rnAccording to Brocade, "This approach provides virtual machines (VMs) a greater sphere of mobility, increases network utilisation, creates more resilient networks and simplifies the management of data centre networks."
