NEC and Webroot to offer mobile device security & management

NEC has teamed up with US-based Internet & PC security technology company Webroot to develop mobile security technology and services for the smartphone and tablet market, to be offered both to telcos and to end users. Their joint offering, 'NEC Mobile Security Pro', is claimed to "encompass everything from extensive anti-malware measures to a mobile device security layer." NEC will offer it direct to the telecommunications carrier market and will use Webroot channels in both the Japanese and other markets. The product is presently available only in Japanese and English, but support for other languages is in the pipeline.
