USING MSCOMM TO RECEIVE SERIAL DATA

The previous Interface article covered the subject of using Visual BASIC with the built-in MSCOMM ActiveX control to send data from the serial port. In this article using MSCOMM to receive serial data will be considered. It is only fair to point out again that MSCOMM is not included with all versions of Visual BASIC. You need a reasonably up-to-date version and at least the Professional edition. Also, it is not included with the free versions such as Visual 5.0 BASIC CCE.
