IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries has announced that its 2-17 Subcommittee has voted to use the Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) as the transport protocol for machine-to-machine communication as part of the Connected Factory Initiative (CFX). AMQP is an open standard application-layer protocol for message-oriented middleware, with toolkits available on all major platforms. It boasts fully symmetrical communication and supports both publish/subscribe and request/response communication patterns. On top of that, IPC reports, its advanced security features are greater than both MQ Technology Telemetry Transport (MQTT) and Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP). Overall, it is a robust and stable protocol with commercial critical messages delivered daily.
