摘要

Convinced of the advantages offered by eHealth, Bulgarian MEP Antonyia Parvanova (ALDE) has called for the European Union to step up its efforts in this area. "It is absolutely necessary to promote the development of this tool, which does not yet have a legal basis in Europe. [...] I regret that the new employment and growth strategy, 'Europe 2020', does not set itself any targets in terms of health, let alone eHealth," she lamented, on 22 June, on the occasion of a breakfast meeting organised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), before announcing her intention to put her question directly to the President of the Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso. In 2004, the European Union had in fact defined targets for the general adoption of eHealth technologies. Since then, development has been fragmented and even limited.
