The thermal conductivity of loose-fill thermal insulation materials based on optimized milling chips made of different wood species was investigated at a variety of densities. The produced chips have the same geometry and very much the same particle size distribution. If the volume of the chips itself is the same, the specific anatomy of the wood only influences the density of the particle system, the thermal conductivity, however, remains unchanged.
