New Latin American landscape architecture

Though South America may not be a dispenser of ultra-novel paradigms, designers in this part of the world certainly add something new to the overall design culture by remaining loyal to Modernism while simultaneously availing themselves of certain aspects of local traditions. 2C Dossier shows these new design ideas in a special way that places landscape architecture in a different perspective. For, all examples are interactions between the disciplines of landscape architecture and architecture. Miquel Adria, editor in chief of the Mexican periodical Arquine, categorizes the projects as architectonic elements grafted onto the landscape as objects. Teresa Moller's intervention in the Chilean landscape of Punta Pite is a good example of this.The 1.5-km long footpath, paved manually with stones, edges its way along the rocky coastline.
