The Carbonia project: the landscape machine

The Carbonia project involves the regeneration of a historically significant 20th-century Modernist urban and mining landscape into a landscape of the 21st century. Carbonia, Sardina, was planned as a garden city by three renowned pre-war architects and planners, and recognized in 2003 by Docomomo (International Committee for Documentation and Conservation of Buildings, Sites, and Neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement) as an important example of Rationalist town planning and architecture.
