As you read this, the technological growth predicted by Moore s Law might be tailing ott; then again, it might still be going strong (it depends on which futurist you ask). For the time being, though, it is business as usual for those working in the human-computer interaction (HCI) field, as they attempt to stay abreast of advances in technology and in human endeavour - both of which show no sign of losing momentum at the moment; however, many transistors are there to work with. To help them in their quest, Julie Jacko and her team of authors have released a third edition of The Human-Computer Interaction Handbook, which aims to cover the latest concepts, methods, research findings and applications in HCI.
