Final report of IGCP Project 359

摘要

Late Palaeozoic and Early Mesozoic constitute the interval known for the integration and separation of Pangaea, the closure of the Palaeo-Tethys and the opening of the Meso-Tethys, associated with a series of worldwide events and resulted in the formation of enormous reserves of energy and ore resources. The aim of this project is to pursue more reliable stratigraphic subdivision and correlation on an intercontinental scale, and to reconstruct the history of Pangaea, Palaeo-Tethys and Palaeo-Pacific through palaeogeo-graphic, palaeoclimatic and other interdisciplinary approaches. Our efforts are concentrated on two tasks: researches on boundaries and zonations of Permian and Triassic systems, series and stages which are the premises of regional stratigraphy, and inte-grative regional stratigraphy which are the basis for interregional correlation.
