A reform in earth science education after a revolution in earth science

摘要

A reform in earth science is urgent. There should be an insight into the philosophy of science, and a realization of the impracticality of instituting rigid "requirements" to "prepare" for a student's career. Methodological courses should be minimized and the duration of study should be greatly shortened, to be complemented by continuing education. Theoretical geology should be taught, and the theoretical knowledge be applied to resource- and environmental engineering.
