摘要

William O'Brien and Jennifer Mclvor pose an elegant general question: how do large-scale top-down restoration projects fare against expanded definitions of restoration? The Everglades restoration project is a terrific case to examine, although it is perhaps at this stage more an exception than a rule. In an era increasingly devoted to identifying and maximizing ecosystem services (Aronson, et al. 2007, Cunningham 2002) I expect an inversion: technological restoration will become the norm.
