His aim is to sketch the contours of sustainable development thinking and show how they might be reformed; technical debates - ethical or economic - are eschewed in favour of reaching a broad audience. This is a work wrung through with the voice of a man determined to open our eyes to the ideological implications of applying dominant economic theory to sustainability.
