Eco-Sujficiency and Global Justice, Women Write Political Ecology

摘要

Ariel Salleh's new (edited) volume has its roots in her earlier book, Ecofemi-nism as Politics, and develops the project of re-thinking humanity-nature relations with an 'embodied materialist' epistemology. Key ecofeminist themes in the book are the costs of 'othering' bodies and ecosystems; how capitalist globalisation rests on cultural dualisms which sustain different forms of patriarchal power; how issues such as climate change are gendered and racialised in both causes and effects, and crucially, how these 'differences' are a source of resistance for global alternatives, and 'global justice via the principle of difference rather than the principle of equality' (Salleh, p. 29).
