William Edelglass, James Hatley and Christian Diehm (eds.) Facing Nature: Levinas and Environmental Thought

A clear anthropocentric bent in the work of Emmanuel Levinas has led few scholars to explore the relationship between his work and environmental concerns until now. Edelglass, Hatley and Diehm's compilation of thirteen articles devoted to this theme effectively opens the way for a rich engagement between Levinas scholarship and environmental thought. Several authors in the volume, including Diehm in the first essay, address the extent to which Levinas' anthropocentrism stands as a problem for relating his work to nonhuman ethical concerns.
