Ecopsychology: Science, Totems, and the Technological Species

摘要

Much of the existing literature in ecopsychology takes the form of a jeremiad of all those things that have come to represent contemporary western cultures. This literature also makes it easy to view science and technology as instruments of progress whose primary goals are to dominate nature and liberate people from their connections with a primal past. Readers can be left with the uncomfortable dilemma of pining for a simpler existence that allows a more direct and meaningful experience of nature while trying fruitlessly to untether from technologies that seem to preclude a deeper connection with our environment.
