摘要

Sorption studies were conducted for Co~(2+) ions on AlPO_4 at different concentrations and temperatures. Sorption of Co~(2+) was found to increase with increase in concentration and temperature. To determine the mechanism of the sorption process, dissolution of AlPO_4 in the presence of Co~(2+) ions and desorption studies were performed which indicated the mechanism of sorption to be the ion exchange followed by precipitation. FTIR studies were also employed to confirm the proposed mechanism.
