Understanding the Skills of Environmental Managers: A Study of Companies in Brazil's Food Sector

The objective of this study was to verify whether the managerial skills approach proposed by Katz (1955) can be used to understand the activities performed by environmental managers at three companies operating in Brazil's food sector. The companies were chosen for study because they are sector leaders in the adoption of ISO 14001 and they have implemented a range of environmental management initiatives.
