Honors spotlight: Lowe's Wins Three EPA Retail Awards

Lowe's, the national home improvement store chain.has earned three of 2009's top retail honors though its partnerships with the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy. On October 8, EPA awarded Lowe's both the 2009 WaterSense® Retail Partner of the Year Award and its 2009 SmartWaySM TransportPartnership Environmental Excellence Award. Together with the 2009 ENERGY STAR® Retail Partner of the Year Award the company received in March, it's a trifeca of honors for a company long-acknowledged for industry-leading strategies to reduce its own environmental impact, while educating consumers about how, in turn, to reduce their own. It's also the first time any retail organization has held all three awards in the same year.
