This newsletter should reach you just before the upcoming Annual meeting. This year's meeting celebrates AIChE's centennial. To mark this event the meeting will feature special sessions that highlight chemical engineering innovations over the past 100 years, as well as a look into the future. It will also include 15 Core Programming Areas and 17 Topical Conferences focused on the latest developments in areas ranging from core chemical engineering fundamentals to emerging technologies in energy, sustainability, phar-maceuticals, bioengineering, and nanotechnology. The Environmental Division is caught up in this celebration and we have put together a fantastic environmental program. We are presenting a record number of sessions on timely and important topics. A highlight of the meeting will be the lecture by Professor Menachem Elimelech of Yale University, this year's recipient of the 2008 AIChE Environmental Division Lawrence K. Cecil Award.
