In page # 213 (column # 2; Line 1 to 10) "A major difference .........is withdrawn from the bulk motion." should read as The flow behavior in the tapered bubble column scrubber is suggested to consist of two distinct regions such as the central region and the annular region. Such a flow behavior for a tapered gas agitated reactor was incorrectly divided into three regions by Kleijntjens et al. Their speculative formulation with this modification is described under the current situation for improved understanding. The irregular flow behavior in a conventional bubble column with uniform cross-section differs principally from that in a tapered bubble column with the presence of an annular shear layer throughout the dispersion surrounding the central region resulting in intense mixing among gas, dust and liquid (water) phases that induces high turbulence. The induced turbulence in the shear layer is propagated to the entire dispersion of the scrubber. The power is extracted from the bulk motion during this process.
