As we described in the first reply, we agree with Romkens, who attributes a high importance to soil properties in the uptake of metals by plants. Nevertheless, as referred in the paper and in the first reply, no significant and poor linear correlations were found between metal content in soil (total and extractable) and soil properties (pH, OM, P, TC and TN) with metal concentration in plant. Therefore, we appreciate the comment made by Romkens in trying to explain the poor relationships between the referred variables.
