National Green Tribunal Act: A Harbinger for the Development of Environmental Forensics in India?

The field of environmental forensics is of recent origin. However, with the increasing incidents of harm to the natural environment, with increasing awareness of people on the effects of pollution and with the expanding realm of environment law, the field is in the process of development into a full-fledged discipline. In India, the field has not taken shape so far. But this state cannot continue for long. The development of the field is essential to complement government policies. The National Green Tribunal Act, as envisaged, will not be able to deliver efficiently without the support of environmental forensics. The improving social and economic conditions of the country may also have a positive impact in this regard.
