Ruling the waves

Prevention is always better than the cure, as the saying goes in medical circles. A similar approach has been taken by developers of a novel data capture system monitoring meteorological and oceanic conditions out at power company RWE's Gwynt y Mor windfarm, 13km off the coast of north Wales. Instead of using computerised extrapolation to make up for data not captured due to wave motion moving their sensors, engineering and support services group Babcock decided to simply reduce the movement on the scanning system.
