A German and French team led by the Fraun-hofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE has set a new world record in the conversion of sunlight into electricity using a new solar cell structure. The team produced efficiency of 44.7% measured at a concentration of 297 suns. This improves on the previous record of 43.6% set by the same team in May.
