Carmakers set to miss CO_2

Research by PA Consulting Group on carmakers' performance against target levels on vehicles' CO_2 emissions for 2015 and 2020 shows that only four carmakers are on track for getting their emissions below the EU's general target of 95g/km of CO_2 by 2020. Renault, Toyota, PSA Peugeot Citroen, and Fiat are the only companies that look like they could meet this target, PA says. In contrast, the group's analysis suggests that it is hardly possible for VW, BMW and Daimler's heavier fleets to achieve compliance. That means the ongoing negotiations between the EU, governments and the manufacturers on how to meet this target look set to get even more difficult.
