PTC has been busily acquiring companies and new areas of business over the past year, and most of them are to do with its perception that the internet of things is the next big development in the technology of products and systems. The biggest and most fundamental acquisition has been Thingworx, and it's a measure of the pace of change in this area that this is seen as the most significant of the group's moves, as this is a company that's barely five years old.
