Raytheon turns up the heat on semiconductors

Raytheon Systems is to work with the University of Strathclyde in a ￡1.3 million project to develop a semiconductor process capable of operating at temperatures up to 450℃.rnThe technology will produce the first integrated circuits capable of withstanding the extreme heat needed for deep oil and gas reserve extraction. It will also enable more sophisticated monitoring of high-temperature turbine and internal combustion engines, leading to higher energy savings.
