MoD simplifies complex weapons development

The Ministry for Defence Equipment & Support has launched a new procurement strategy for complex weapons. A modular approach to the way the UK develops and purchases guided missiles and weapons could mean changes for test engineers. The MoD has formed a Complex Weapons team for the early assessment phase, comprising defence firms MBDA,Thales UK, QinetiQ and Roxel UK. The team will spend ￡74 million in the first year, launching six new weapons projects. Baroness Taylor, minister for defence equipment & support, said: "The team will maintain the UK's key skills and technologies in missile development and protect our operational sovereignty in this sector for the future."
