Smart grids will cut energy use in homes

Businesses are being offered the opportunity to compete for funding for research to help make homes "smarter" and make consumers more energy conscious. The Technology Strategy Board is to invest ￡4.5 million in the development of ideas that show how smart meters can be fitted in homes in a way that impacts on demand for and use of energy.
